About the Role
Kyagalanyi Coffee Uganda, a subsidiary of Volcafe Ltd, is seeking a dedicated Coffee Agronomist to join the Volcafe Global Coffee Research Team. You will play a key role in conducting research and implementing crop estimation programs across East Africa.
This is a dynamic opportunity for a qualified professional (or a talented graduate with strong academic foundations) to contribute to one of the world’s leading coffee trading companies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Implement and execute crop tour methodology for yield forecasting and production estimates.
Conduct structured farmer interviews and visual field assessments to evaluate current and future crop production.
Collect and analyse both primary and secondary data from a variety of sources including official records, farmer reports, and third-party institutions.
Monitor weather patterns, pests, diseases, and other agronomic risks to update production forecasts.
Track input costs and competing crops to support gross margin and profitability analysis.
Lead periodic stock surveys to validate supply chain data.
Produce high-quality reports on crop tours, trade flow analysis, and market insights.
Collaborate with traders to provide timely and accurate data that supports regional trading strategies.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of coffee agronomy; experience in crop estimation is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced level preferred).
Excellent communication skills in English and local languages.
Strong analytical, statistical, and presentation abilities.
Willingness to travel frequently to coffee-growing regions within Uganda and East Africa.
