Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to the cafe's recipes, presentation and portion standards.
- Plan mise en place and prep lists ahead of each service.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and flag shortages or spoilage.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene, food safety and storage standards at all times.
- Supervise kitchen support staff during busy service periods.
- Control food costs and minimise waste.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate or diploma in food preparation and culinary arts is an added advantage.
- Experience cooking in a busy restaurant or cafe kitchen.
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
Skills & Competencies:
- Cooking and plating to standard.
- Speed and consistency under pressure.
- Kitchen hygiene and organisation.
- Teamwork and communication.
