Assistant Technician (Welding) job at Busitema University
Busitema University
An Assistant Technician (Welding) supports welding operations and ensures the effective and safe completion of welding tasks. This role involves working under the supervision of senior welders or welding engineers, preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and performing basic welding tasks.
Preparation and Setup
Material Preparation: Cutting, cleaning, and positioning metal pieces for welding, ensuring they are ready for the welding process.
Equipment Setup: Setting up welding equipment and tools, including adjusting welding machines to the appropriate settings as directed by senior welders.
Welding Assistance
Basic Welding Tasks: Performing basic welding tasks, such as tack welding, under the guidance of a senior welder.
Support Activities: Assisting senior welders in more complex welding operations by holding, moving, or positioning materials.
Maintenance and Safety
Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
Safety Compliance: Following all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing appropriate personal

A Diploma in either Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology or Agricultural
Mechanization or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
Relevant working experience in a Mechanical Workshop in a reputable Organization or Industry is an added advantage.
Age Limit: Should not have reached fifty (50) years of age by deadline for submission of application.
