Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Track every truck from Kampala to final delivery in Kisangani and Beni, and containers from Mombasa through Malaba or Busia to Kampala.
- Monitor the live position of company-owned and subcontracted trucks on the GPS platform and flag stops and deviations.
- Maintain the daily fleet and shipment position report covering truck, container, location, status and ETA.
- Keep clients and internal teams updated on status and ETA changes.
- Follow every truck through Uganda to DRC border points such as Mpondwe, Kasindi, Goli and Mahagi.
- Liaise with drivers, clearing agents and border staff to speed up crossings.
- Escalate queues, holds or missing documents to the Import Manager early with a proposed fix.
- Prepare, check and file import and transit documents for each shipment, including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists and customs documents.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in logistics, clearing and forwarding, supply chain or business.
- Experience in freight forwarding, transit or cross-border transport operations.
- Knowledge of East African customs and transit documentation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Shipment tracking and fleet monitoring.
- Border and clearing agent liaison.
- Document checking and record keeping.
- Clear communication and early escalation.
- Strong organisation under tight transit timelines.
