Job Description
The Agronomist will support improved agricultural productivity by providing technical guidance on soil management, crop production, pest and disease control, and climate-smart agriculture. The role involves field-based work with farmers, data analysis, and the development of sustainable farming practices.
Project: Resilient Livelihood Project (Funded by AWO International)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of climate-smart crop and vegetable production practices.
- Provide technical support in food crops, vegetables, fruit trees, and fodder production.
- Establish and supervise demonstration plots for innovative agronomic practices.
- Support post-harvest handling and local market development.
- Supervise crop protection and agronomy-related activities.
- Ensure all agricultural interventions promote sustainability and resilience.
- Conduct studies, assessments, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
- Advise project teams on quality standards in crop production.
- Develop and refine tools and systems related to agronomy and climate-smart agriculture.
- Promote inclusive and farmer-centered approaches in crop production.
- Participate in planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of project progress.
