Job Description

The Agronomist will support improved agricultural productivity by providing technical guidance on soil management, crop production, pest and disease control, and climate-smart agriculture. The role involves field-based work with farmers, data analysis, and the development of sustainable farming practices.

Project: Resilient Livelihood Project (Funded by AWO International)

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of climate-smart crop and vegetable production practices.
  • Provide technical support in food crops, vegetables, fruit trees, and fodder production.
  • Establish and supervise demonstration plots for innovative agronomic practices.
  • Support post-harvest handling and local market development.
  • Supervise crop protection and agronomy-related activities.
  • Ensure all agricultural interventions promote sustainability and resilience.
  • Conduct studies, assessments, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Advise project teams on quality standards in crop production.
  • Develop and refine tools and systems related to agronomy and climate-smart agriculture.
  • Promote inclusive and farmer-centered approaches in crop production.
  • Participate in planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of project progress.
