Job Description
The Agric Technical Officer will be responsible for delivering technical agricultural advice, conducting field assessments, guiding plantation workers, and ensuring the implementation of best practices in crop cultivation. The role includes planning irrigation, performing soil analysis, monitoring crop health, and supporting the application of pest control methods. The officer will also contribute to the research and development of farm productivity strategies such as crop rotation and intercropping.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical support on agriculture-related issues including research, production, servicing, and marketing
Prepare, store, and analyze agricultural samples following proper protocols
Implement and oversee oil palm cultivation aligned with industry standards
Guide plantation workers in planting, pruning, fertilization, and pest control
Monitor crop health and identify diseases, pests, or nutrient deficiencies
Plan and implement irrigation strategies in collaboration with management
Conduct soil testing and provide soil/nutrient management recommendations
Design and implement crop rotation and intercropping programs
Mix and apply insecticide solutions as per specifications

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop Production/Protection, or a related field
Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and farm record-keeping
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Familiarity with modern farming tools and agricultural technologies
Experience in curriculum design for agricultural practices is an advantage
Willingness to work in remote farm areas and collaborate effectively within a team
