Job Summary:
Our client, a leading plastics manufacturing company in Uganda, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support business growth through accurate financial reporting. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and intercompany transactions.
Monitor expenses, budgets, and cost control measures to optimize profitability.
Ensure compliance with Ugandan tax laws (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax) and filing returns on time.
Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as required.
Track production costs, raw material usage, and inventory valuation.
Analyze manufacturing expenses and recommend cost-saving measures.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for production and operational costs.
Process payroll, ensuring accurate salary calculations, deductions, and statutory remittances (NSSF, PAYE).
Verify supplier invoices, process payments, and maintain good vendor relationships.
Implement and monitor internal financial controls to prevent fraud and mismanagement.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Professional certification like ACCA, CPA is a plus).
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing/plastics industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Tally) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and IFRS.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
