Accountant job at Bantwana Initiative Uganda (BIU)

Bantwana Initiative Uganda (BIU)

Under the general supervision of the Director Finance & operations, the Accounts will assist in instituting accounting controls, recording and reporting of assets, liabilities and income and the monitoring of disbursements of donor funds in support of the program.

  • Handling day to day accounting transactions for all projects at BIU head office.

  • Responsible for daily posting and submission of monthly accounts including updated QuickBooks database and supporting documents for all transactions.

  • Review of BIU payment documents submitted to finance and operations.

  • Tracking and reconciling staff advance accounts on monthly basis.

  • Carry out bank reconciliation for all BIU projects

  • Responsible for filling of all project financial documents

  • Responsible for tracking and reconciling all fuel advances and payments

  • Ensure all statutory payments are captured all payroll related tax ledgers are up to date.

  • Provide support in the Financial Management Training.

  • Any other duties assigned

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Business Administration with accounting/finance major from a recognized institution, or related field; a professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage

  • At least 6 years of increasingly responsible experience in Financial Management.

  • Vast experience finance and accounting work with a reputable international NGO.

  • Experience in using QuickBooks

  • High level of attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

  • Strong analytical and inter-personal skills

  • Ability to prioritize, meets deadlines and work on multiple tasks
