Job Description
Job Opportunity: Post Bus Driver (6 Positions)

Reports To: Post Bus Supervisor

Purpose of the Role
The Post Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and professional operation of Posta Uganda buses, ensuring the secure and timely transportation of passengers, mail, and parcels, while adhering to all relevant road and postal regulations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Drive the Post Bus in accordance with traffic laws, organizational policies, and safety regulations.
Maintain a valid driving license with the required classes and comply with all licensing requirements.
Adhere to assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of passengers and mail.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to check fuel, oil, tires, brakes, and lights.
Keep accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel usage, incidents, and delays.
Secure and safeguard mail and passenger items, ensuring confidentiality and proper handling.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, providing first aid or other support as required.
Ensure the bus is clean, roadworthy, and stored safely after every route.
Support passengers with special needs, such as the elderly and people with disabilities.
Monitor passenger boarding and verify that all passengers have been ticketed by the conductor.
Collaborate with the conductor to manage relationships with brokers, local authorities, and other stakeholders to uphold the image of the Post Bus.
Complete and submit the Daily Bus Return report to the supervisor immediately upon arrival at headquarters.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
General education background.
Valid driver’s permit with classes: CE, D, D1, D1E, DE.
Must possess a current Passenger Bus Driver’s Badge issued by the Ministry of Works and Transport or a license issued by the Transport Licensing Board.
Certificate in Defensive Driving from a recognized training institution.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience driving passenger buses.
At least three (3) years of that experience must be with a registered passenger bus company.
Key Competencies
Skilled in driving buses of various sizes and models.
Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety procedures, and public transport regulations.
Courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with passengers.
Familiarity with established bus routes and schedules.
Ability to maintain clear communication and demonstrate time management.
Capable of performing basic mechanical troubleshooting.
High integrity and adherence to professional standards.
