Job Description

The Packing Assistant in the Oral Solid Dosage Section is responsible for efficiently supporting the packaging of solid dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. Tasks include loading packaging materials, inspecting final products, operating blister and bottle lines, cleaning, and performing line changeovers. The Packing Assistant must ensure all operations follow GMP protocols, SOPs, and packaging instructions. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, accurate documentation, and adherence to hygiene protocols in classified environments. Supervision and guidance will be provided by the Packing Officers and QA Inspectors.

How to Apply

  1. Assist in loading packaging materials (e.g., blisters, bottles, caps, leaflets, cartons) onto machines.

  2. Conduct visual inspections of packed products to ensure quality and completeness.

  3. Support operations on blister packing, bottle filling, labeling, sealing, and secondary packaging lines.

  4. Segregate defective or rejected units and handle them in accordance with SOPs.

  5. Perform line clearance, cleaning, and changeover support between different product batches.

  6. Complete basic entries in packaging records and assist in maintaining accurate documentation.

  7. Adhere to cGMP gowning, hygiene, and personal safety procedures while working in cleanrooms.

  8. Maintain good housekeeping and sanitation in the packaging area.

  9. Report any issues related to packaging quality, material shortages, SOPs, or equipment abnormalities.

  10. Participate in regular GMP and safety training sessions and follow instructions from Packing Officers and QA Inspectors.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) is required.

  • A certificate in packaging technology or related industrial operations is an added advantage.


Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a packaging or manufacturing role within a pharmaceutical or FMCG environment.

  • Familiarity with blister and bottle packing operations and packaging line support functions.

  • Understanding of basic GMP and hygiene protocols for classified packaging environments.

  • Attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and good manual dexterity.

  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and perform physical tasks in a production setting.
