Job Description
The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining data integrity, supporting payroll and financial reporting, and implementing improvements to accounting processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll management, and process optimization using accounting software such as Xero.
The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial data management, provide financial insights to the leadership team, and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to support organizational growth and compliance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly closings, management accounts, and statutory financial audits.
Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and accounts payable/receivable.
Ensure accurate recording and coding of transactions across multiple entities.
Prepare consolidated financial statements for group reporting.
Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations.
Coordinate with local accountants to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Review and approve local tax submissions and accounts.
Oversee global payroll processing and ensure compliance with payroll taxes.
Monitor accounts and perform weekly payment runs to maintain up-to-date payments.
Manage treasury functions, including cash flow and bank account reconciliations.
Utilize Xero and other automation tools to streamline accounting and financial operations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency.
Support the implementation of new finance systems as needed.
Maintain and manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation and reporting.
Analyze operating expenses (Opex) and ensure proper categorization and allocation across business units.
Serve as the first point of contact for finance-related queries within the organization.
Assist with the opening of new entities and bank accounts as Kijani expands into new geographies.
Collaborate with team members to prepare detailed reports and analyses for stakeholders.
Perform administrative tasks to support the broader team.
Assist with special projects, including financial modelling, budgets, and forecasts.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Proven 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a multi-entity or multinational environment.
Proficiency in Xero or similar accounting software.
Proficiency in Excel.
Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies aligned with business goals.
Strong analytical skills to address challenges and find effective solutions.
High level of accuracy in financial management.
Capable of inspiring and guiding teams towards achieving objectives.
Ability to thrive in dynamic and changing environments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well with diverse teams and stakeholdersAnticipate challenges and address them proactively.
