Responsible to the Engine room of vessel, tools and supervises all engineering crew onboard and off board team including Pier Clerks, Assistant Pier Clerks, Tag men, and Crane Operators.

To provide Legal and Administrative support to the Uganda Railway Corporation Board and Management and to interpret and domesticate any International Railways and Marine Laws and Statutes for Uganda and URC.

To operate and maintain deck equipment and assist ship engineer officers to operate, maintain and repair engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment aboard ships or self-propelled vessels.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer – Operations is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and safety of rolling stock and related mechanical assets to support efficient railway operations.

Reporting to the Carriage & Wagon Inspector, the Carriage & Wagons examiner conducts inspections, maintenance and repairs to wagons and coaches.

To participate in leading URC’S development of a Commercially sustainable Property Business, encompassing Land and built properties.

To provide adequate, efficient and systematic library, information management and Registry administration.

Responsible for navigational watchkeeping of the ship, maintaining safety equipment like lifeboats and firefighting gear, performing shipboard administrative tasks, and assisting senior officers in the deck department’s overall duties.

To lead land surveying operations for Uganda Railways Corporation by ensuring precise measurement, mapping, and documentation of land boundaries, topographical features, and engineering elements.

The Senior Procurement Officer will manage end-to-end procurement processes for assigned categories and projects.

The Principal Mechanical Engineer – Operations will oversee the availability, reliability, and safety of rolling stock and related mechanical assets essential to URC’s railway operations.

The role requires driving digital transformation, implementing predictive maintenance systems, and guiding engineering teams toward operational excellence, safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness in rail transport.
