HIRING PREFERENCE SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants in the following hiring preference categories are extended a hiring preference in the order listed below. HIRING PREFERENCE ORDER:
(1) AEFM / USEFM who is a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran*

(3) FS on LWOP and CS with reemployment rights
IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active-duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.

Reading and Interpreting Blueprints:
Understanding technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the welding requirements.
Preparing Materials:
Cutting and shaping metal components to specified measurements.
Cleaning and inspecting materials to ensure they are suitable for welding.
Setting Up Equipment:
Selecting and setting up appropriate welding equipment, including welding machines, torches, and other tools.
Ensuring all safety equipment is in place and operational.
Performing Welding Operations:
Using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, stick, and arc welding to join metal parts.
Applying appropriate welding processes based on material type and job specifications.
Monitoring the welding process to ensure it meets quality standards.
Inspecting Welds:
Examining completed welds for defects, such as cracks or gaps.
Performing tests to assess weld quality, including visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods.
Maintaining Equipment:
Performing routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
Troubleshooting and repairing equipment as needed.
Ensuring Safety:
Adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, gloves, and protective clothing.
Working in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhaling fumes.
Must be able to use all tools of the trade and must have a valid driver’s license for a combination of vehicles.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
