Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Travel Consultant located in Kampala. The Travel Consultant will be responsible for handling travel arrangements, managing travel itineraries, providing customer service, making reservations, and offering travel consulting services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client Consultation: Engage with clients to understand their travel preferences, requirements, and budget constraints. Provide personalized recommendations for destinations, accommodations, transportation, activities, and travel packages based on client preferences.

  • Itinerary Planning: Create customized travel itineraries tailored to meet the needs and preferences of individual clients or groups. Coordinate flights, accommodations, ground transportation, tours, and activities to ensure a seamless and enjoyable travel experience.

  • Booking and Reservations: Make flight reservations, hotel bookings, car rentals, and other travel arrangements on behalf of clients. Secure necessary travel documents such as visas, travel insurance, and health certificates as required.

  • Travel Coordination: Coordinate all aspects of the travel experience, including flight check-ins, hotel check-outs, airport transfers, and tour arrangements. Ensure that clients receive timely updates and assistance throughout their journey.

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to address client inquiries, resolve issues, and handle any emergencies or disruptions that may arise during travel. Offer assistance with rebooking flights, changing accommodations, and arranging alternative travel arrangements as needed.

  • Destination Knowledge: Stay informed about popular travel destinations, attractions, events, and local customs. Provide clients with valuable insights, recommendations, and insider tips to enhance their travel experience and make informed decisions.

  • Sales and Marketing: Promote travel packages, special offers, and promotions to attract new clients and generate sales. Build and maintain relationships with travel suppliers, vendors, and industry partners to negotiate favorable rates and secure exclusive deals for clients.

  • Documentation and Administration: Prepare and organize travel documents, itineraries, invoices, and receipts for clients. Maintain accurate records of bookings, payments, and client preferences using travel management software or databases.

  • Financial Management: Calculate and quote travel costs, including airfares, accommodation rates, and additional expenses such as meals, activities, and travel insurance. Collect payments, process refunds, and manage client accounts in compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Continuing Education: Stay updated on industry trends, travel regulations, and new technologies related to travel planning and booking. Participate in training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of travel consultancy.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Travel Consulting, Travel Management, and Travel Arrangements skills

  • Customer Service and Reservations skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Knowledge of travel industry trends and destinations

  • Proficiency in VISA APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Experience in the tourism or hospitality industry is a plus
