Job Description
The Trade Development Representatives (TDRs) will play a key role in expanding the company’s footprint in the FMCG sector by ensuring efficient customer service, growing sales volumes, and maximizing opportunities in designated markets. Each TDR will manage specific routes across different counties in Kenya, ensuring that accounts are serviced, new accounts are developed, and trade marketing strategies are implemented. The TDRs will also monitor competition, gather market intelligence, and report on customer needs, interests, and opportunities for product expansion.
Market Routes Covered:
Narok, Bomet, Kisii, Homabay route
Kisumu, Kakamega, Kericho, Bungoma route
Naivasha, Nakuru, Gilgil, Nyahururu route
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Build and maintain a strong route-to-market network to achieve sustainable and profitable sales growth.
Provide efficient customer service to existing accounts and establish new accounts.
Develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers.
Support brand marketing initiatives by identifying opportunities in listing and activations.
Execute trade marketing strategies including merchandising, activations, and POS placement.
Establish close working relationships with traders and retailers to gain trade support and loyalty.
Represent the company in line with business standards and ethical practices.
Monitor and report on competition, pricing, new products, and market trends.
Provide management with detailed reports on customer needs, interests, and competitive activity.
Submit activity and results reports including daily visit reports, weekly plans, and monthly territory analyses.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
University degree in Sales, Marketing, or other relevant fields.
Experience
At least 5 years’ experience in trade marketing within the FMCG industry, preferably in food and beverages.
Key Competencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an outgoing personality.
Valid Driver’s License (mandatory).
Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and work independently.
Problem-solving skills and ability to “make things happen.”
