Job Description
The successful candidate will operate tractors with various attachments such as bush cutters, slashers, sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, and planters. The role requires timely and accurate soil preparation, transportation of personnel and materials, canopy management, pruning, and harvesting tasks. The incumbent must maintain the tractor and associated equipment, ensure compliance with the OHS Act, and support the farm team with general labor and record-keeping duties.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate tractors and implements at appropriate speeds for various farm tasks
Perform accurate and timely soil preparation
Transport workers, farm produce, fertilizers, and equipment safely
Conduct pruning, suckering, canopy management, and harvesting of fruit trees and vineyards
Perform basic maintenance on tractors, implements, irrigation, and trellis systems
Report any mechanical defects or equipment damage
Manage time efficiently for individual and team tasks
Keep records of daily work, diesel usage, and spraying programs
Assist with general farm work
Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) requirements

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
At least 3 years’ proven experience operating tractors
Basic understanding of farm operations and crop cycles
Good communication and teamwork skills
Good reading and writing ability
Added Advantage:
Grade 12 qualification
Valid B Driver's License
Willingness to undertake a competency test during the interview process
