Lira University was established as a Public University by Statutory Instrument No.35, of July 18th 2015 to expand access to equitable quality Higher Education in the country and to respond to the critical Human Resource Development needs of the country. The University is governed by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 as amended 2006 of the Republic of Uganda. The University is located in Lango Sub-region in Northern Uganda, Lira City. In order to fulfill the current mandate and to position the University to assist local community and build their capacity for socio economic enhancement, the university has to fill positions with personnel with required skills and experience.
Teaching and Education:
Delivering lectures, seminars, and workshops to medical students, residents, and fellows on topics related to anesthesiology, perioperative care, pain management, and critical care medicine.
Developing and updating curriculum materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and educational resources.
Supervising and mentoring trainees during clinical rotations in anesthesia, providing guidance on patient management, anesthesia techniques, and perioperative assessment.
Conducting simulation-based training sessions to enhance learners' skills in airway management, patient monitoring, and crisis resource management.
Research and Scholarly Activity:
Conducting clinical research, quality improvement projects, or basic science investigations in areas relevant to anesthesiology, such as perioperative outcomes, pain management strategies, pharmacology, or anesthesia technology.
Securing research funding through grant proposals, collaborative partnerships, or institutional resources to support research initiatives within the department.
Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at scientific conferences, and contributing to the academic literature in anesthesiology and related fields.
Mentoring medical students, residents, and junior faculty members in research methodology, data analysis, and scholarly writing to foster a culture of inquiry and academic excellence.
Qualifications:
Relevant academic qualifications in the field of Nutrition.
Experience in teaching or related academic activities is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to departmental goals.
