Shree Sahajanand School, Uganda (SSSU) is a modern co-educational day learning institution offering pre-primary, primary, and secondary schooling to children on the National Curriculum.
Situated in the heart of Kampala City at Bukoto, Nakawa Division, SSSU is strategically built in a quiet and secure residential area on a 30-acre Shree Swaminarayan Complex.
We operate under the auspices of Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SKLPS) Uganda, and Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple (SKSST, Kampala. The school is incorporated as Shree Sahajanand School in the year 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching Spanish Language: The primary duty is to teach Spanish language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, to students at various proficiency levels.

  • Lesson Planning: Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with curriculum standards and cater to the needs of diverse learners. This may include grammar exercises, vocabulary activities, conversation practice, and cultural studies.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments (e.g., quizzes, tests, oral presentations, writing assignments) to evaluate student progress and proficiency in Spanish. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their language learning journey.

  • Cultural Integration: Integrate cultural elements of Spanish-speaking countries into the curriculum to broaden students' cultural awareness and understanding.

  • Individualized Instruction: Provide additional support or enrichment activities to students who may need it, and differentiate instruction to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and revise curriculum materials, language learning resources, and assessment methods to enhance the teaching and learning of Spanish.

  • Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, academic concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Attend parent-teacher conferences as needed.

  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Organize or participate in Spanish-related extra-curricular activities such as language clubs, cultural events, exchange programs, or immersion trips.

  • Professionalism: Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, colleagues, and parents, including punctuality, reliability, and ethical conduct.

  • Continuing Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on advancements in language teaching methodologies, pedagogical strategies, and language acquisition research.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Spanish language, Spanish literature, education with a focus on Spanish, or a related field is typically required. Some institutions may prefer candidates with a master's degree, particularly for teaching at the college level.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish is essential. Depending on the institution and location, proficiency may be assessed through standardized language tests like the DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera).

  • Teaching Certification: Many jurisdictions require teachers to obtain a teaching certification or license to teach in public schools. This often involves completing a teacher education program with a focus on Spanish education and passing relevant exams.

  • Subject Matter Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, literature, and cultural aspects is necessary. Additionally, a solid understanding of language teaching methodologies and pedagogical approaches is important.

  • Experience: While not always required, having teaching experience, especially in Spanish language instruction, can strengthen a candidate's application.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effectively teaching Spanish and interacting with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.

  • Cultural Competence: An appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures, traditions, and customs is valuable for providing a rich and immersive learning experience for students.

  • Technology Skills: Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources for language teaching, such as language learning software, interactive whiteboards, and online resources, can enhance teaching and learning.

  • Continuing Education: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities, such as workshops, seminars, conferences, and language immersion programs, is important for staying updated on best practices in language teaching and advancing language proficiency.
