Job Description
Job Title: Teacher – Literature in English

Reporting To: Head Teacher
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and committed Literature in English Teacher to join our academic team at LASS. This role includes teaching, mentoring, and contributing to the holistic development of students through our LEAD model, using a competency-based curriculum and faith-integrated learning approach.

How to Apply
Teaching & Learning
Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials aligned with the curriculum
Deliver engaging and effective Literature in English lessons
Design and administer assessments; track and report student progress
Integrate diverse teaching methods and resources to accommodate various learning styles
Stay current with subject knowledge and curriculum updates
Mentorship & Student Support
Serve as a role model of Christian conduct and integrity
Provide mentorship and counseling support for academic, social, and personal development
Foster a positive classroom environment and address behavioral issues appropriately
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate student records (attendance, performance, discipline)
Submit regular reports on curriculum implementation and student progress
Participate in school committees and decision-making processes
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
Organize and support extracurricular and co-curricular activities
Professional Development
Mentor junior staff and teaching assistants
Engage in continuous professional learning and development
Stay informed on curriculum changes and educational best practices
Other Responsibilities
Carry out any additional duties assigned by school administration
Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Literature in English
Distinction or strong grades (A or B) in relevant subjects at O/A levels
At least one year of relevant teaching experience
Proficiency in subject content and modern teaching methods
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Competence in computer use and report writing
Personal Competencies
Practicing Christian committed to the values and mission of L4A
Willingness to live and work in South Sudan
High personal integrity and respect for child protection standards
Flexible, team-oriented, and self-motivated
No criminal record, especially relating to child safety
