The U.S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN) serves as the United States’ delegation to the United Nations. USUN is responsible for carrying out the nation’s participation in the world body. In 1947 the United States Mission was created by an act of Congress to assist the President and the Department of State in conducting United States policy at the United Nations. Since that time, USUN has served a vital role as the Department of State’s UN branch. Today, USUN has approximately 150 people on staff who serve to represent the United States’ political, economic and social, legal, military, public diplomacy and management interests at the United Nations.

USUN is divided into the following sections – Executive; Washington; Political; Management and Reform; Economic and Social; Legal; Military Staff; Public Affairs; Host Country; Management; and Security.

The United States Mission to the United Nations is located at 799 United Nations Plaza (between E. 44th and E. 45th on First Ave) across the street from United Nations Headquarters.

USAID/Uganda is seeking offers from qualified Ugandans to provide personal services under contract as Supervisory Project Management Specialist (Strategic Information (SI))

Project Management:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of family health projects.

  • Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Ensure projects meet their objectives within the specified time frame and budget.


Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise a team of project managers and support staff.

  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations for team members.

  • Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.


Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for family health programs in line with organizational goals.

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and improvement.

  • Coordinate with senior management to align project goals with broader organizational objectives.


Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, donors, and community groups.

  • Facilitate regular communication and meetings with stakeholders to ensure project alignment and address any concerns.

  • Represent the organization in public forums and at meetings with stakeholders.


Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project performance and impact.

  • Conduct regular project reviews and audits to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.

  • Analyze data and produce reports to inform decision-making and improve project outcomes.


Budget and Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring funds are used effectively and efficiently.

  • Monitor financial reports and ensure compliance with financial regulations and donor requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.


Training and Capacity Building:

  • Organize and conduct training sessions for project staff and partners.

  • Build the capacity of local partners and communities to ensure sustainability of family health programs.

  • Stay updated on best practices and advancements in family health and project management.


Policy Development and Advocacy:

  • Contribute to the development of health policies and guidelines related to family health.

  • Advocate for family health issues and promote evidence-based practices.

  • Work with policymakers to influence health policies and funding decisions.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Project Management, or a related field.

  • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Project Management, or a related discipline is often preferred.


Professional Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing health projects, particularly those focused on family health.

  • Proven track record of supervising teams and managing large-scale projects.

  • Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and international donors.


Skills:

  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

  • Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and reporting.

  • Analytical: Strong analytical skills to assess project performance and make data-driven decisions.

  • Financial Management: Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software, health information systems, and data analysis tools.


Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is highly desirable.

  • Certification in public health or a related field can be beneficial.
