Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited

Coordinate and oversee the work of construction crews, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in road projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project schedules.

  • Project Oversight: Supervise road construction, maintenance, or repair projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

  • Team Management: Coordinate and oversee the work of construction crews, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in road projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project schedules.

  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of workmanship, materials, and equipment used in road construction activities, conducting inspections and tests as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations on construction sites, conducting safety briefings, inspections, and audits to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries among workers.

  • Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, including tracking expenditures, managing costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.

  • Progress Reporting: Maintain accurate records of project progress, including daily reports, work logs, and photographic documentation, and provide regular updates to project stakeholders on the status of road construction activities.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with project stakeholders, including government agencies, local authorities, community members, and property owners, to address concerns, obtain necessary approvals, and facilitate project communication and collaboration.

  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve project-related issues, conflicts, and challenges that may arise during road construction, implementing corrective actions and mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.

  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and requirements during road construction activities, minimizing environmental impacts and implementing mitigation measures as needed.

  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, specifications, and correspondence, to support project tracking, reporting, and future reference.

  • Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and supervisory skills are required to lead and motivate construction crews, resolve conflicts, and maintain productivity and morale on construction sites.

  • Problem-Solving Aptitude: The ability to identify issues, analyze problems, and develop practical solutions is essential for addressing challenges that may arise during road construction projects.

  • Safety Consciousness: A commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations are critical for ensuring the well-being of workers and compliance with safety standards.

  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is necessary for conducting quality inspections, reviewing project documentation, and ensuring that road construction activities meet specifications and quality requirements.

  • Physical Fitness: The role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments, requiring physical stamina, agility, and the ability to perform tasks that may involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

  • Licensing and Certifications: Some positions may require a valid driver's license and/or certification in construction-related fields, such as construction site safety, first aid/CPR, or heavy equipment operation.
