Job Description
The Sports Trading Manager will report to the Sports Floor Manager and is responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Sports Trading Team. This includes the real-time updating of sports events, supervising live betting calendars and contracts, monitoring betting trends, managing quality control, supporting tele-betting clients, and staying updated with industry trends and technologies. The manager must ensure that the team performs duties efficiently and aligns with organizational goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Price and update pre-match and in-play sports not covered by automatic feeds
Monitor market pricing, particularly for manually traded and high-liquidity events
Track and evaluate betting activity on various sports
Support clients via Tele-betting, including handling customer queries and issues
Manage the live booking calendar and related contracts
Identify issues and propose improvements to enhance departmental performance
Monitor website content related to betting markets
Allocate duties to Traders and ensure timely, accurate execution
Prepare rosters to ensure major events and hours are adequately covered
Oversee and evaluate the quality of work, driving a continuous improvement culture
Stay updated with betting industry innovations for informed strategic decisions
Align team objectives with broader company strategy and values

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Matric (Grade 12) is required
Tertiary education is an advantage
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
Must have prior experience in the betting industry
Communications background preferred
Knowledge of betting software is advantageous
Strong understanding of sports, particularly local sports
High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
Ability to self-motivate and work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy
Familiar with fixed odds markets and sports pricing principles
Skilled in identifying client betting patterns
Excellent verbal and written communication
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Willing to work weekends, public holidays, shifts, and extended hours
Open to adopting and managing changes in work processes
