Job Description

SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) and Retail Sales Agents play a crucial role in promoting and selling products or services to small businesses and individual customers. Their duties and requirements can vary depending on the industry and specific company, but here are some general duties and requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales Generation: Actively prospect, identify, and pursue sales opportunities among SMEs and individual retail customers.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with SME clients and retail customers to understand their needs and preferences.

  • Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the products or services offered by the company and effectively communicate their features, benefits, and value propositions to potential customers.

  • Consultative Selling: Engage in consultative selling approaches by understanding customer pain points and offering tailored solutions to meet their needs.

  • Sales Presentations: Deliver engaging sales presentations and demonstrations to SMEs and retail customers, highlighting the key features and benefits of the products or services.


  • Sales Support: Provide support to customers throughout the sales process, including handling inquiries, providing quotes, processing orders, and addressing customer concerns or objections.

  • Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to identify new sales opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.

  • Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by the company, demonstrating consistent performance and results.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and sales performance metrics, and generate regular reports for management review.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry developments, product enhancements, and sales techniques through training programs, workshops, and self-study.

  • Sales Experience: Previous experience in sales, preferably in SME or retail sales roles, with a track record of achieving sales targets and delivering results.

  • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with customers, understand their needs, and establish long-term relationships.

  • Product Knowledge: A good understanding of the company's products or services and the ability to articulate their features, benefits, and value propositions to customers.


  • Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic sales environment, respond to changing customer needs, and adjust sales strategies accordingly.

  • Resilience: Resilience and persistence to overcome challenges, handle rejection, and maintain motivation in a competitive sales environment.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple sales opportunities simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

  • Customer Focus: A customer-centric mindset and a genuine desire to understand and address the needs of SME clients and retail customers.

  • Technology Proficiency: Basic proficiency in using sales tools, CRM software, and digital communication channels for prospecting, lead management, and sales tracking.
