Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision and Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the boiler plant during the assigned shift.
Supervise boiler operators and other staff, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to protocols.
Coordinate shift activities and ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
Operation and Monitoring:
Monitor boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Adjust controls and settings as necessary to maintain proper operation.
Keep detailed logs of boiler operations, including readings, maintenance performed, and any issues encountered.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on boilers and related equipment to prevent breakdowns.
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with boiler systems, and coordinate repairs.
Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols to protect personnel and equipment.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding boiler operations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and drills.
Training and Development:
Train new boiler operators and other personnel on proper operation and safety procedures.
Conduct ongoing training to keep staff updated on new technologies and procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all boiler operations, maintenance, and safety activities.
Prepare and submit reports on boiler performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
Report any operational issues or safety concerns to higher management promptly.
Emergency Response:
Respond to emergency situations involving boiler systems, taking prompt action to mitigate risks.
Coordinate with emergency services if necessary and follow emergency response protocols.
Qualifications and Competencies
Educational Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Technical certification or diploma in boiler operation, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Additional certifications related to boiler operation and safety (e.g., Boiler Operator License) are advantageous.
Experience:
Several years of experience in boiler operation and maintenance.
Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in boiler operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and manage a team effectively.
Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of diagnosing and resolving technical issues quickly.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and training purposes.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage shift activities and documentation.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of boiler systems, controls, and safety regulations.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to boiler operations.
Understanding of energy management and efficiency practices.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Capacity to respond quickly to emergency situations.
