Job Description
The Senior Security Analyst is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of A&A activities for various software products and systems under the VA’s software development Product Line. The analyst will collaborate with development and security engineering teams to ensure all RMF requirements are met, maintain documentation within eMASS, manage workflows, and coordinate with stakeholders to mitigate security risks. The position also includes providing security training, developing security plans, facilitating vulnerability assessments, and leading working sessions on security compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, well-organized, and adept at communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Act as system steward through RMF stages to obtain/maintain ATOs
Ensure timely completion of security documentation and artifacts in eMASS
Manage eMASS workflows and coordinate with VA teams
Post required artifacts in eMASS and support ATO status updates
Develop and maintain Security Plans for all products
Review application requirements to ensure security compliance
Coordinate vulnerability assessments and compliance gap analysis
Provide training to stakeholders on security requirements
Prepare regular reports highlighting risks and security status
Develop and maintain POAMs reflecting ATO progress
Facilitate and document security-related meetings and reviews
Track planned security activities and document associated risks
Stay informed on VA policies and security best practices
Support cross-functional teams and promote knowledge sharing
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree
3–5 years of relevant security/A&A experience
Experience with federal cybersecurity standards and ATO management
Familiarity with eMASS or equivalent RMF tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Agile and SDLC methodologies
Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, Visio, Jira
Ability to work independently in a remote team environment
Must be able to satisfy federal security clearance requirements
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting the VA or working as a federal contractor
In-depth experience with eMASS
