Job Description
Job Title: Senior Project Manager (Sudan Regional Response Pooled Fund)
Organisation: Danish Refugee Council (DRC)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
This is a specialist role within DRC, specifically designed to lead internal coordination and project management for the Sudan Regional Response Pooled Fund (SRRPF). The Project Manager ensures seamless operational delivery, compliance, and quality assurance across all aspects of the fund while supporting adaptive and context-responsive programming.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Project Manager will
Oversee financial management and accountability for SRRPF, ensuring compliance with donor and internal guidelines.
Coordinate risk management processes and ensure the effective mitigation of identified risks.
Lead internal governance frameworks, including robust mechanisms for decision-making, monitoring, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and contractual obligations for SRRPF.
Provide operational support to the Project Director for the successful implementation of SRRPF objectives.
Collaborate with technical teams and partners to adaptively respond to shifting humanitarian and development needs.
Manage internal reporting systems to facilitate information flow, track progress, and support decision-making.
Act as the focal point for internal stakeholders and ensure cohesive coordination between Regional Office and HQ-level units, particularly the Fund Management Services unit in HQ.
Support donor engagement processes in collaboration with the Project Director, with a focus on compliance and fund management transparency.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
At least 5 years’ experience in managing large, multi-stakeholder funds, preferably in complex or humanitarian settings.
Strong understanding of donor requirements and compliance, including pooled fund management.
Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, risk management, and governance structures.
Excellent coordination and operational skills, with experience in navigating multi-country project management.
Proven ability to work independently, with a clear understanding of managing and escalating risk
Proven ability to propose creative solutions to challenges, and proven ability deliver results within a flexible and adaptive framework
Proven capability in budget and financial management, including strong skills with spreadsheet and resource planning software
Successful experience working within culturally and politically diverse teams and institutions, in a fluid and dynamic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to engage diplomatically
