Kyambogo University is the second largest Public University in Uganda. Since its formation in 2003, the University has established itself as one of the leading Universities in Uganda offering a number of academic programmes in line with vocational education, teacher training, hands-on engineering, special needs training, social sciences, pure and applied sciences, entrepreneurship and management that meet the market demands and development needs of the Country. The Strategic Focus Areas of the University include: Teaching and Learning: Research, Innovation and Knowledge Generation; Physicalfrastructure, Facilities and ICT Development, Institutional evelopment and Strategic Marketing.
In order to achieve its mission and strategic goals, the University invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the Teaching positions in the disciplines listed hereunder on permanent terms.
Kyambogo University (KYU) was established with the main aim of promoting and advancing knowledge and development of skills in Science, Technology and Education and such other fields having regards for quality, equity, progress and transformation of society.

Teaching: Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in ethics, moral philosophy, and related subjects. Develop course materials, syllabi, and assessments that engage students in critical reflection on ethical issues and encourage active participation in class discussions.
Research: Conduct original research in ethics, contributing to the scholarly literature and advancing knowledge in the field. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at academic conferences, and participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Advising: Advise undergraduate and graduate students on academic matters, career pathways, and research opportunities in ethics and related fields. Mentor students in research projects, thesis/dissertation work, and professional development activities.
Service: Serve on departmental, college, and university committees, contributing to academic governance, strategic planning, and program assessment. Participate in professional organizations and engage in outreach activities to promote ethics education and public engagement with ethical issues.
Community Engagement: Engage with the broader community, including industry partners, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the general public, to address ethical challenges and promote ethical decision-making in society.
Leadership: Provide leadership within the department and institution, as well as in professional organizations and academic societies. Supervise junior faculty, coordinate departmental initiatives, and represent the department in external forums.
Continuing Education: Stay current with developments in the field of ethics through ongoing professional development activities, including attending conferences, workshops, and seminars. Pursue opportunities for continuing education and certification in specialized areas of interest.

Education: A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in philosophy, ethics, theology, or a related field is typically required for an associate professor position in ethics. Candidates should have a strong academic background with specialization in ethical theory, applied ethics, or a specific area of moral philosophy.
Teaching Experience: Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on ethics or related subjects, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching, effective communication skills, and the ability to engage students in ethical inquiry and critical thinking.
Research Productivity: A strong record of research accomplishments, including publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, presentations at conferences, and contributions to edited volumes or monographs. Candidates should have ongoing research projects and demonstrate the potential for continued scholarly productivity.
Expertise in Ethical Theory: Proficiency in ethical theory, including familiarity with major ethical frameworks (e.g., consequentialism, deontology, virtue ethics) and contemporary debates in moral philosophy. Candidates should have expertise in one or more areas of ethics, such as bioethics, environmental ethics, business ethics, or social ethics.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines, such as philosophy, theology, law, psychology, sociology, and public policy, to address complex ethical issues from diverse perspectives.
Grant Funding: Experience in securing external research funding to support research activities, graduate student training, and conference participation. Candidates should have a track record of successful grant applications and demonstrate the ability to develop competitive research proposals.
Mentorship and Advising: Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research projects, thesis/dissertation work, and professional development activities. Candidates should show a commitment to fostering the intellectual and professional growth of their students.
Service and Leadership: A willingness to contribute to departmental and institutional service activities, including committee work, curriculum development, and academic governance. Candidates should demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to advancing the mission and goals of the department and institution.
