The University that now sits on Banda Hill is one of Uganda’s largest public Universities established by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 and the Universities and Other Tertiary institutions (Establishment of Kyambogo University) instruments of 2003. It is a merger of the former Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE).

Job Description
Kyambogo University is the second largest Public University in Uganda. Since its formation in 2003, the University has established itself as one of the leading Universities in Uganda offering a number of academic programmes in line with vocational education, teacher training, hands-on engineering, special needs training, social sciences, pure and applied sciences, entrepreneurship and management that meet the market demands and development needs of the Country. The Strategic Focus Areas of the University include: Teaching and Learning: Research, Innovation and Knowledge Generation; Physicalfrastructure, Facilities and ICT Development, Institutional evelopment and Strategic Marketing.
In order to achieve its mission and strategic goals, the University invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the Teaching positions in the disciplines listed hereunder on permanent terms.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Course Development: Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in construction technology, construction management, project management, and related fields. Develop course materials, syllabi, and assessments aligned with program objectives and accreditation standards.
Student Supervision and Advising: Mentor and advise students on academic matters, career development, and research opportunities. Supervise student projects, theses, and dissertations, providing guidance and feedback to support student success.
Research and Scholarly Activities: Conduct original research in construction technology, construction management, and related areas. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and other scholarly outlets. Pursue external funding opportunities to support research projects and collaborations.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of academic programs, curricula, and learning outcomes in construction technology and management. Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in construction education.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities, including attending conferences, workshops, and seminars. Stay current with developments in construction technology, management practices, and pedagogical methods.
Industry Engagement: Foster partnerships and collaborations with industry stakeholders, professional organizations, and government agencies. Facilitate industry guest lectures, site visits, internships, and cooperative education opportunities for students.
Service and Leadership: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance activities. Contribute to academic and administrative initiatives, accreditation processes, and strategic planning efforts. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior faculty members.
Community Outreach: Engage with the broader community through outreach activities, continuing education programs, and public service initiatives. Share expertise and resources with local organizations, government agencies, and community groups.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of academic programs through adherence to accreditation standards, assessment practices, and continuous improvement processes. Participate in program reviews, accreditation visits, and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree may be acceptable for candidates with extensive professional experience.
Professional Experience: Substantial experience in the construction industry, with a focus on construction technology, project management, or related areas. Experience in academic teaching, research, and curriculum development is preferred.
Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in construction materials, construction methods, building systems, construction management principles, and project delivery processes. Familiarity with emerging trends in sustainable construction, digital technologies, and building information modeling (BIM) is desirable.
Teaching Experience: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and course development at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience with innovative teaching methods, experiential learning, and active learning strategies is advantageous.
Research Track Record: A strong record of scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and scholarly venues. Evidence of external research funding, research collaborations, and interdisciplinary research activities is valued.
Professional Licensure/Certification: Professional licensure or certification in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline may be required or preferred, depending on institutional and programmatic requirements.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including students, colleagues, industry professionals, and the public.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, both within academia and with external partners in the construction industry, government agencies, and professional organizations.
Leadership and Initiative: Demonstrated leadership qualities, initiative, and the ability to take on leadership roles within academic departments, professional societies, and community organizations.
