Job Description
The Senior Business Analyst will take ownership of end-to-end requirements management, from initial elicitation and documentation through to validation, change analysis, and post-implementation support. Working on complex, message-rich systems, this role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external clients to translate business needs into detailed solution requirements. Responsibilities also include stakeholder alignment, mentoring junior analysts, supporting implementation during SDLC phases, and contributing to new initiative scoping and proposal development.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Requirements Management:
Lead requirements elicitation via workshops, interviews, and collaborative sessions.
Analyze systems, processes, and data flows to identify gaps and improvement areas.
Maintain the full lifecycle of business requirements using EA and Interfront standards.
Create and manage comprehensive documentation.
Review delivered systems for alignment with specifications.
Mentor junior analysts in best practices and traceability.
Assess impacts of requirement changes and support costing efforts.
Promote systems-thinking across operational and business continuity contexts.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
Build trusted stakeholder relationships across business and technical teams.
Translate business needs into structured, understandable formats for all audiences.
Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate scope, priorities, and changes.
Represent business analysis in cross-functional client forums.
Handle conflicting viewpoints using negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Present structured walkthroughs and feedback sessions effectively.
Support junior analysts in communication and documentation.
Collaboration and Implementation Support:
Participate in multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and documentation updates.
Represent client needs throughout the SDLC.
Support development and QA teams during solution implementation.
New Initiative Scoping and Analysis:
Support management in developing business solution proposals.
Identify business opportunities in current client operations.
Define scope and estimate analysis effort for new projects.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or Information Systems.
9+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a message-rich transactional system environment.
In-depth understanding of the SDLC.
Proficiency in BPMN and UML modeling standards.
Familiarity with software testing/QA principles.
Experience with Enterprise Architect (advantageous).
Function Point measurement experience (advantageous).
Business Analysis certification/diploma (advantageous).
