Job Description
This is a full-time, senior-level position based in Nairobi. The successful candidate will manage the financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems. They will ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, oversee reinsurance accounting, facilitate audits, and contribute to the budgeting process. They will also support risk and compliance functions and ensure strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
Manage the treasury function, including cash flow for operational requirements.
Conduct reinsurance accounting and monthly reconciliations.
Develop, review, and enhance financial policies and SOPs.
Ensure implementation and compliance with accounting standards.
Collaborate with the ICT team to ensure system accuracy and integrity.
Guarantee compliance with regulatory bodies such as IRA, KRA, UFAA.
Serve as the risk champion within the finance department.
Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process with departmental heads.
Supervise the expenditure process to ensure budget adherence.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, auditors, banks, and regulators.
Assist in preparing Board papers and advising on financial and compliance matters.
Coordinate external audits with auditors, actuaries, and tax advisors.
Implement and benchmark best practices.
Perform any other related duties for operational efficiency.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Professional Qualifications:
CPA K or ACCA certification.
Experience:
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
Insurance industry experience is mandatory.
