Job Description
The Security Operative (SO) plays a key role in safeguarding Lafarge Africa's personnel, environment, assets, reputation, and legal exposure (PEARL) within the South-East region. This role operates on a shift-based schedule and includes supervision of the private security provider, response to security incidents, monitoring of security systems (e.g., CCTV), and coordination with public security forces. The SO will provide detailed incident reports, support investigations, and act as the security liaison in the absence of the Senior Security Operative. Additional responsibilities include local intelligence gathering, compliance with Health & Safety standards, and the implementation of Lafarge’s Security & Resilience Policies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure protection of people, assets, environment, and company reputation
Supervise private security personnel and validate their activities
Conduct random checks and participate in patrols
Enforce Lafarge’s Health & Safety and Security Policies
Supervise armed response units and security assets during crises
Report and document incidents via company systems (e.g., SINT platform)
Interface with public security forces in the event of security breaches
Act as liaison between Plant Management and Security Department
Support with investigations, write independent reports, and identify security gaps
Monitor and supervise CCTV operations and ongoing projects
Gather and maintain local intelligence to support business security
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum OND (Ordinary National Diploma)
At least 4 years of experience in a security supervisory role
Demonstrated experience in handling security incidents such as armed attacks or theft
Experience in team and resource supervision
Ability to enforce Lafarge’s security standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong report-writing skills with accuracy and attention to detail
