Job Description
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Applications are hereby invited from suitable qualified persons to fill the under listed vacant post that exists in the service of Gulu District Local Government. Application should be submitted in triplicate on PSC Form 3 (Revised 2008) NOT later than 5:00pm EAT, 22 February 2024 (FOUR WEEKS from the date of this advert) to The Secretary District Service Commission, P.O Box 2, Gulu.
Application forms are obtainable from any Office of the District Service Commission and must be filled in the applicant's own hand writing with three current passport size photographs attached. Serving Officers should route their applications through their Heads of Departments who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay. Applications should bear the Title and Reference Number of the post applied for. Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts and supporting documents must accompany the Application Forms.
Those invited for interviews must come with their Original Certificates, National Identity Cards and Institutional Identity Cards. Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are also encouraged to apply.

Planning and coordinating road works activities with contractors, engineers and other stakeholders
Inspecting and evaluating the quality and progress of road works and ensuring compliance with standards, specifications and contracts
Preparing and submitting reports on road works status, challenges and recommendations
Enforcing road safety rules and regulations and ensuring proper signage and markings on roads and bridges
Identifying and reporting any defects, damages or hazards on roads and bridges and taking corrective actions
Providing technical guidance and support to road workers and resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise
Managing the road works budget and resources and ensuring accountability and transparency

A diploma or higher in civil engineering, road construction or related field
At least three years of relevant work experience in road works supervision and management
Knowledge of road works standards, specifications, contracts and procedures
Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office, AutoCAD, GIS etc.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
Valid driving license and willingness to travel within the district
