Job Description

The Risk & Compliance internship at Safaricom provides an opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the company adheres to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Interns will assist in policy implementation, compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting. In addition to on-the-job experience, interns will benefit from mentorship, leadership coaching, online learning resources, and participation in a community-based CSR project. Interns will exit the program with highly marketable skills and a professional network through the MPA Accelerator alumni group.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of compliance and risk management policies

  • Assist in risk assessments and internal audits

  • Participate in reviewing legal and regulatory updates

  • Help in preparing compliance reports and documentation

  • Collaborate with departments to ensure compliance with internal policies

  • Engage in learning and development activities

  • Contribute to a community-focused CSR initiative

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged between 21–26 years

  • Completed undergraduate coursework or graduated within the past year

  • Not in permanent employment

  • Available full-time for 6 months

Preferred Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Interest in legal, governance, or compliance frameworks

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
