Job Description
The Research Enumerator will play a crucial role in gathering both qualitative and quantitative data in the field to support various research initiatives. This position requires attending training workshops, conducting interviews with respondents, collecting and recording accurate responses, and ensuring timely data submission. The role demands proficiency in Karimojong, familiarity with digital data collection tools, and a strong command of English for communication and reporting. Enumerators must ensure all research tools and equipment are handled and returned properly and may also serve as interpreters when necessary.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Attend training workshops for enumerators.
Receive and manage enumeration materials and devices from the MEAL Officer.
Identify and interview sample respondents.
Accurately record responses in line with instructions.
Submit completed interviews to the data server in a timely manner.
Maintain accountability for all research materials and devices.
Return all equipment post-survey (e.g., tablets, visibility tools).
Serve as an interpreter when needed.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science field from a recognized university.
Certificate in a relevant course with experience in data collection.
Fluency in Karimojong language.
Proficiency in English (oral and written).
Prior experience in data collection for research projects on migration, climate change, or socio-economic assessments.
Added Advantage:
Experience in large-scale quantitative and qualitative data collection.
Experience conducting interviews, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews.
Familiarity with CAPI tools (tablets/mobile devices), preferably with KoBo Toolbox.
Ability to identify inconsistencies or issues in survey instruments during the pilot phase.
Experience in transcription and translation of interviews into English.
Additional language skills relevant to the research area.
