Pride Microfinance Limited (MDI) (Pride) is the leading Microfinance Deposit Taking Institution in Uganda with 46 locations countrywide, an equal opportunity employer and is regulated by Bank of Uganda under the MDI Act, 2003.
The Commercial Loans Officer reports to the Credit Supervisor and is responsible for recruiting of clients and visiting prospective clients’ homes and business to assess credit worthiness. The officer will be required to access loans of at least Ugx. 15,000,000 and should have prior experience in Credit management
Client Relationship Management
Client Acquisition: Identify and acquire new SME clients through various channels, including referrals, direct marketing, and networking.
Client Retention: Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing SME clients to ensure their continued satisfaction and loyalty.
Client Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for SME clients, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and effectively.
Financial Advisory and Sales
Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of SME clients’ financial needs and business goals to recommend appropriate financial products and services.
Product Promotion: Promote and cross-sell the bank’s products and services, such as loans, credit facilities, savings accounts, and insurance, to meet the clients' needs.
Customized Solutions: Develop and propose customized financial solutions that align with the specific requirements of SME clients.
Credit Management
Loan Processing: Assist clients in the loan application process, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
Credit Analysis: Conduct preliminary credit assessments and gather financial information to support the credit approval process.
Risk Assessment: Evaluate the creditworthiness of SME clients, identifying potential risks and making recommendations to mitigate them.
Account Management
Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of SME accounts, ensuring regular monitoring and review to optimize account performance.
Transaction Monitoring: Oversee and facilitate clients’ transactions, ensuring they are processed efficiently and in compliance with banking regulations.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or problems that arise in the management of SME accounts, ensuring timely and satisfactory outcomes.
Business Development
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and trends within the SME sector.
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to expand the bank’s presence and market share within the SME segment.
Networking: Build and maintain a network of business contacts and industry relationships to generate leads and referrals.
Reporting and Compliance
Documentation: Ensure that all client interactions, transactions, and communications are properly documented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Compliance: Adhere to all banking regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring that SME clients’ activities comply with legal and regulatory standards.
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance, client activities, and market trends for senior management review.
Customer Education and Training
Client Training: Provide training and educational resources to SME clients on financial management, banking products, and services.
Workshops and Seminars: Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to help SME clients understand the bank’s offerings and make informed financial decisions.
Collaboration and Teamwork
Internal Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as credit, risk management, and operations, to ensure seamless service delivery to SME clients.
Team Support: Support colleagues and contribute to a collaborative and productive team environment.

Analyze existing customer data to identify expansion and / or additional business.
Loan appraisal & disbursement
Proactively cross sell and acquire new client relationships as well as selling additional solutions according to customer needs.
Follow up and recovery of loans
Ensure accurate and timely filing of all loan documentation.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Minimum Academic Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Development Economics, Economics, Development studies, Business Studies, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Financial Services and Business Computing, International Business, Business Statistics, Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management, Social Science, SWASA, Education, Microfinance, Adult and Community Education, Community Psychology, Procurement & Chain Supply Management, Procurement & Logistics Management, Human Resource Management, Industrial & Organization Psychology, Project Planning and Management, Entrepreneurship and Project Planning, Public Administration and Management, Sales and Marketing Management, B. Agriculture & Rural Innovations, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Extension, Engineering or in any other relevant / related field +
2 Principal passes at A’ Level
Credit and/or Pass in English and Mathematics at O’ level
Required Experience
At least 3 years’ experience as a Credit Officer or Loans Officer in a Financial Institution

Should be ready to challenge themselves to continuously deliver exceptional performance
Should be computer literate, highly motivated, innovative and a self-starter.
Should have excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
Should possess leadership skills.
Should be honest, trustworthy and have a high degree of integrity.
Should be fluent in commonly used local languages in the respective regions.
Should not be more than 40 years of age.
