Job Description

This role leads NBC's business development and operations in the mining industry. The Relationship Manager will:

  • Develop new business and maintain existing relationships in the mining sector.

  • Oversee client onboarding, credit assessments, and service delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with internal banking policies and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate across departments including credit, marketing, and operations.

  • Monitor and manage client portfolios and provide strategic financial advice.

  • Actively engage in risk management and drive the bank’s visibility and credibility within the mining community.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Sales and Service (65%)

  • Grow portfolio through cross-selling/up-selling financial products.

  • Identify and convert sales opportunities within client portfolios.

  • Deliver client satisfaction through consistent service and solutions.

  • Maintain client contact plans and handle feedback and complaints.

  • Conduct client reviews and portfolio assessments.


Business Development (30%)

  • Identify new mining sector clients and expand client base.

  • Work with marketing teams to tailor products to mining clients.

  • Gather and assess information for credit applications.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and lead generation.


Risk Management (5%)

  • Ensure risk compliance across lending and investment activities.

  • Collaborate with credit and risk teams to mitigate portfolio risks.

  • Adhere to internal risk management guidelines and policies.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in banking or financial services with a mining sector focus.

  • Proven experience in client relationship management and business development.


Technical Skills:

  • Strong grasp of mining industry dynamics and investment banking principles.

  • Skilled in financial modelling, credit analysis, and risk evaluation.


Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commercial mindset with a customer-focused approach.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
