Job Description
The Operations Controller / Receptionist will serve as the central point of communication and coordination in the control room, ensuring that deployment of guards is done in a timely manner, all assignments are covered, and any arising issues are handled or reported promptly. The role includes monitoring guard activity through call checks, responding to alarm activations, managing vehicle movement logs, handling incoming client calls, relaying instructions to field personnel, and keeping detailed shift reports for operational review. The role also involves effective handling of communication equipment and maintenance of control room protocols.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure timely deployment and full coverage of assignments
Perform regular radio and call checks with guards to ensure alertness
Promptly report and escalate incidents to the Operations Department
Monitor and respond to alarm activations, dispatching QRF without delay
Maintain effective communication via radio and phone
Respond to client calls professionally and escalate where necessary
Stay informed of all current assignments and call signs
Prepare and submit daily written briefs to HR/Administration and Operations Manager
Track and authorize vehicle and motorcycle movements; maintain movement logs
Monitor and manage usage of control room phones and radios
Keep the control room operational and organized throughout the shift
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of a high school certificate (UCE or equivalent)
Prior experience in a security control room or related role is an added advantage
Excellent verbal communication and telephone etiquette
Ability to multitask and stay alert during shifts
Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality
Familiarity with radio operations and basic incident reporting
Good written reporting skills and attention to detail
