SAO U is currently seeking a dynamic, self-driven, and experienced individual to fill the position of Programme Officer – Connections, based in Kaberamaido.
Position Overview:
The Programme Officer – Connections is responsible for building and maintaining meaningful relationships between the community and supporters in Australia. This role ensures timely and effective communication, updates, and feedback to sponsors, contributing to SAO U’s mission of supporting the holistic growth of children within their communities.
Reports to: Programme Area Coordinator
Contract Type: Fixed-term (1 year)
Duty Station: Kaberamaido
Start Date: As soon as possible
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between the community and sponsors in Australia, ensuring effective and timely communication.
Oversee the delivery of child partner correspondence, including letters, photographs, and updates.
Respond promptly to sponsor inquiries and child partner updates.
Conduct quarterly information verification visits for child partners and their households.
Organize quarterly review meetings with child partners to assess program impact and progress.
Compile and share accurate reports on child partner wellbeing and community development outcomes.
Identify and assess the needs of children with disabilities within the program.
Facilitate active and meaningful participation of children and youth throughout the project cycle, with a goal of maintaining 1,400 active child partners.
Monitor the implementation and progress of program interventions at the community level.
Build the capacity of community teams to implement child-focused activities effectively.
Review project performance reports, ensure alignment with reporting standards, and submit timely updates to the Programme Coordinator.
Represent SAO U in relevant meetings, partnerships, and local committees, and follow up on action items.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably with a child sponsorship-focused NGO.
Experience working in multicultural and rural community settings.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Fluency in the local language Kumam is a must.
A valid motorcycle riding permit is required.
Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Spiritual maturity, integrity, and alignment with SAO U’s Christian values and mission are essential.
Key Deliverables and Competencies:
Well-maintained child partner database and periodic updates.
Strong communication flow between child partners and their sponsors.
Organized documentation and secure recordkeeping.
Comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Strong relationships with stakeholders, including local leaders and partner institutions.
