Job Description

A production manager is involved with the planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes. The role ensures that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.

The production Manager is responsible for both human and material resources

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning manufacturing processes

  • Liaising with relevant production technicians to ensure that competent operators have been put on machines.

  • To ensure smooth and efficient change over between shifts, ensuring that operators do not leave their machines until replacements are in place

  • Production planning and daily material requisition

  • Analyze the monthly production schedules, ensure production as per schedule and budget and make weekly progress reports to DW

  • Preparing weekly reports for Management on production progress

  • Spearhead the pre-production (planning) procedures with supply chain planner.

  • Working out the human and material resources needed

  • identifying training needs for the department

  • Closely get integrated with other functions, such as human resource marketing, sales and finance.


Coordination manufacturing processes and

Monitor attendance of production staff

  • In charge production staff welfare

  • In charge of on job training for machine operators and production staff in general

  • Monitoring: checking of and ascertaining truth of hand over reports every morning before handing them over to DW (to ensure that you are aware of what happened in the previous shift)

  • Ensuring clean factory at all times; work areas, machines and machine operators

  • Ensuring that storekeepers take care of wastage disposal, material storage on the factory floor and finished product storage.

  • liaising among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers;

  • monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed

  • being responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment

  • working with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.

  • supervising and motivating a team of workers

  • reviewing worker performance

  • Take charge of the whole production (control and supervision) stage.

  • Oversee the product design and purchasing.


Control of manufacturing processes

  • Review and verification of production report sheets before morning meetings with DW

  • Monitor quality of goods produced in liaison with the QC; carry out physical inspection of products and report any anomalies to QC and production technicians on duty for immediate action.

  • Monitoring product weights with the QC to ensure that they are within specified ranges.

  • Estimating costs and setting the quality standards.

  • overseeing the production process, drawing up a production schedule ensuring that the production is cost effective.

  • making sure that products are produced on time and are of good quality.

  • monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs.

  • ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.


You will be the team leader in the DOR meeting in the absence of DW.

  • Attend DOR team meeting and report on happenings.
