Job Description
The post-doctoral position is part of a project investigating Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) technology for detecting Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli, a bacterial pathogen in sugarcane. The research focuses on developing in-field diagnostic tools utilizing microfluidic chip technology. The successful candidate will be engaged in hands-on molecular biology work, including LAMP, RT-qPCR, and potentially ELISA or sequencing-based techniques. In addition, they will contribute to laboratory operations and mentor postgraduate students. The role requires excellent record keeping, data management, and communication skills.

How to Apply
Conduct research on LAMP-based diagnostic platforms for L. xyli subsp. xyli
Develop and optimize point-of-care detection tools
Maintain accurate experimental records and manage laboratory data
Collaborate with the research team and provide mentorship to postgraduate students
Participate in general laboratory operations
Use digital tools for sample, data, and experiment management
Contribute to publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals
Minimum Requirements:
PhD in Plant Pathology or a related discipline (awarded within the last five years)
Recent peer-reviewed publications in accredited journals
Proven experience in molecular biology techniques such as RT-qPCR, Next Generation Sequencing, ELISA, or cell-based assays
Competencies:
Strong molecular biology skill set
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Independent thinker with strong documentation and data handling capabilities
Experience supervising and mentoring postgraduate students is an advantage
