Job Description
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results, determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription
- Administer manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and use of assistive devices such as crutches, canes and prostheses
- Administer physical therapy treatments including massages, traction, hydrotherapy, ultrasound and other physical agents
- Evaluate effects of physical therapy treatments and fitting of prosthetic and orthotic devices
- Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, and other health care workers
- Design home exercise programs and instruct patients, families and caregivers
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to infection control policies
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions as needed
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops and professional networks
