Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

Job Description
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC now invites applications from persons interested to develop their career with a dynamic and results-oriented Company to occupy the following position
Duties and Responsibilities
Design and Planning: Design and plan the layout, construction, and renovation of facilities, ensuring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Project Management: Manage construction projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contractor supervision.
Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
Energy Efficiency: Implement energy efficiency measures and sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and minimize environmental impact.
Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
Space Management: Optimize space utilization and allocation within facilities, including office layouts, storage, and common areas.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including fire evacuation drills, first aid protocols, and disaster recovery plans.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage budgets for facility projects and operations, monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
Contract Management: Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring that services are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about regulatory changes and updates affecting facilities management, ensuring that facilities meet all applicable legal requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience: Previous experience in facilities management, construction project management, or engineering is often required. Experience with building systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance is beneficial.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering principles, construction methods, and building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing). Familiarity with CAD software and project management tools may be necessary.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for conveying technical information, coordinating with team members, and interacting with stakeholders.
Leadership Abilities: Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members, delegate tasks effectively, and lead projects to successful completion.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is important for ensuring accuracy in project plans, specifications, and budget estimates.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards relevant to facilities management. Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends is also valuable.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for building relationships with colleagues, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders involved in facility projects.
Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Willingness to learn and stay updated on advances in facilities management practices and technology.
