Grindrod Logistics Africa Uganda seeks to recruit skilled, experienced, and motivated technical team to work in Kampala and Buliisa to maintain their contracted equipment throughout the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including parts, supplies, and materials. Monitor stock levels, track inventory movements, and conduct regular physical inventory counts to reconcile discrepancies.
Order Processing: Receive and process incoming orders for parts and supplies. Verify order accuracy, prepare purchase orders or requisitions, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Stock Replenishment: Monitor inventory levels and reorder parts and supplies as needed to prevent stockouts and maintain adequate inventory levels. Coordinate with procurement or purchasing departments to place orders and track deliveries.
Inventory Control: Implement inventory control measures to prevent loss, theft, or damage to inventory items. Secure storage areas, use inventory management tools such as barcoding or RFID systems, and implement inventory control procedures.
Quality Control: Inspect incoming parts and supplies for quality and accuracy. Verify that received items match purchase orders and specifications. Identify and report any discrepancies or issues with incoming inventory.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments. Update inventory databases or systems with relevant information and ensure documentation compliance.
Reporting: Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and inventory-related metrics as required. Analyze inventory data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in inventory management processes.
Customer Service: Provide assistance and support to internal customers, such as maintenance technicians or production teams, regarding parts availability, stock inquiries, and order status updates.
Inventory Audits: Conduct periodic audits or cycle counts of inventory to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies. Investigate root causes of discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains in inventory management practices. Make recommendations for implementing best practices and optimizing inventory processes.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is typically required. Additional education in inventory management, logistics, or related fields may be beneficial.
Experience: Prior experience in inventory management, parts management, or a related field is often preferred. Experience with inventory software and systems may also be advantageous.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using inventory management software, spreadsheets, and other computerized systems for tracking inventory. Familiarity with databases and data entry is important.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records of parts and inventory, manage stock levels effectively, and ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in counting, labeling, and recording inventory items. The ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly is crucial.
Analytical Skills: Basic analytical skills to analyze inventory data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations for optimizing inventory levels and reducing costs.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with suppliers, vendors, and other team members. The ability to communicate inventory needs, place orders, and resolve inventory-related issues is essential.
Physical Stamina: The role may involve lifting, carrying, and moving heavy parts or equipment, so physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that require physical effort are important.
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, identify root causes of inventory issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, including warehouse staff, procurement officers, and managers, to ensure efficient inventory management processes.
