Luwero is commonly known for the 5 year Guerilla war that ravaged the district between 1981 -1986, fought between the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) and other rebel groups mostly the National Resistance Army which later became the known as Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF).
The war left Luwero Economically, Socially, Administratively and Infrastructures divested. Luwero was part of the former East Mengo District with its headquarters in Bombo. In 1974, East Mengo was split into two districts namely, Mukono and Luwero District. Luwero was composed of 4 Counties; Buruli, Nakaseke, Katikamu and Bamamunika. In 2005, Buruli and Nakaseke curved out of Luwero District.
Luwero District today comprises two Counties Katikamu and Bamunanika, Three Constituencies; Katikamu North,Katikamu South and Bamunanika, ten Sub Counties and eight Town Councils among the lower local governments.

Evaluating the performance of nursing staff and ensuring their professional development Coordinating and managing the allocation of resources, such as staff, equipment, supplies and budget Ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and quality improvement initiatives Collaborating with other health care professionals, such as physicians, pharmacists, therapists and social workers, to provide holistic and patient-centered care Communicating effectively with patients, families, staff and stakeholders and resolving any issues or complaints Participating in research, education and advocacy activities to advance the nursing profession and improve patient outcomes Assessing the health needs and risks of individuals and groups, and planning appropriate interventions. Providing clinical services such as immunization, family planning, antenatal care, delivery, postnatal care, wound dressing, and infection prevention and control. Educating and counseling patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care. Supervising and mentoring other nurses and health workers, and ensuring quality standards and protocols are followed.
Developing and implementing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines for nursing care delivery
Supervising, mentoring and evaluating the performance of nursing staff and ensuring their professional development
Coordinating and managing the allocation of resources, such as staff, equipment, supplies and budget
Ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and quality improvement initiatives

Clinical expertise:
A nursing officer should have a solid background in nursing practice and be able to apply evidence-based knowledge and skills to various clinical situations.
Communication skills:
A nursing officer should be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and other stakeholders, using clear, concise, and respectful language.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills:
A nursing officer should be able to analyze complex data, identify issues, and implement solutions in a timely and efficient manner.
Emotional intelligence:
A nursing officer should be able to manage their own emotions and empathize with others, especially in stressful or challenging situations.
Leadership skills:
A nursing officer should be able to inspire, motivate, and empower others to achieve their goals and improve their performance.
Professionalism:
A nursing officer should uphold the standards and ethics of the nursing profession and act with integrity, accountability, and respect.
A diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized institution.
A valid registration and license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
At least two years of relevant work experience in a health facility or community setting.
Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
