Design without Borders Africa (DwB) is looking for a self driven, resourceful, creative individual with legal working status in Uganda and with a passion for creatively communicating the value of design. He/she should have experience in direct sales, brand marketing, advertising, and design/innovation.
The Marketing-Design Officer will be responsible for projecting DwB’s brand through marketing campaigns, website, social media, press, conferences and other means. He/ she will be tasked to ensure that all marketing activities are in line with the organisation's goals; and that marketing efforts add the highest value to the business.
Additional Information
The role will include the following roles and responsibilities:
Responsible for direct marketing and sales to potential, new and existing clients.
Work closely with the DwB team to develop marketing strategies and sales tactics to meet set monthly, quarterly and annual targets.
Collect and analyse sales data to track effectiveness of marketing tools and make improvements to drive better results.
Help with organising and executing marketing activities such as exhibitions, podcasts, webinars, guest lectures and similar promotional campaigns.
Assess the value of DwB staff attending trade shows, conferences and seminars, identifying and planning relevant speaker opportunities for DwB.
Design and Implement digital marketing campaigns, especially utilising different social media platforms.
Support the design and development of marketing, communication and sales material and tools including but not limited to social media messaging, newsletters and annual reports.
Engage continuously with industry (design/innovation) stakeholders, leaders, trend setters as well as DwB partners, clients and project beneficiaries to obtain market feedback.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a degree in Mass Communication or related fields.
Good communication skills with good oral and written presentation skills.
Fluency in both written and spoken English, and with strong negotiation and social skills to enable effective marketing and sales.
Must be well versed in digital and social media platforms.
Good social skills, be hands-on, results-oriented, proactive, accurate, and flexible.
An eye for detail and an interest in design/innovation.
Basic knowledge of graphic design software (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
Open to learning about design, particularly human centred design methods and tools.
You must live in Uganda and have strong ties to the country
Fluency in Luganda, Swahili, and other local languages is desirable
