Job Description

The successful candidate will manage the planning, supervision, and execution of all lifting operations on-site, ensuring adherence to engineering plans and safety protocols. They will work closely with engineers, safety officers, riggers, and crane operators to assess operational risks, develop lifting plans, and monitor the proper use of equipment. The Lifting Supervisor will also be responsible for verifying certifications of lifting machinery, conducting inspections, and leading safety briefings before lifting activities. This position requires practical field experience, strong coordination abilities, and a proactive approach to minimizing risk and improving efficiency during lifting operations.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate all lifting operations on-site, including risk assessments and lifting plans.

  • Review and approve lifting plans in collaboration with project engineers and safety teams.

  • Supervise and direct crane operators, riggers, and other team members during lifting activities.

  • Ensure the correct selection and use of lifting equipment and accessories for each task.

  • Monitor ground conditions, crane positioning, and load limits during lifting operations.

  • Enforce strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.

  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings prior to lifting operations.

  • Verify that all lifting equipment is properly certified, inspected, and maintained.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of lifting operations, certifications, and inspection reports.

  • Prepare incident or near-miss reports and take corrective actions where necessary.

  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and safety training to riggers and lifting team members.

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement on-site.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising crane and lifting operations in construction or industrial settings.

  • Proven expertise in rigging techniques, lifting plans, and heavy equipment operations.

Certifications:

  • Valid Lifting Supervisor Certificate or equivalent qualification (mandatory).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of international lifting and safety standards.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, lifting plans, and risk assessments.

  • High commitment to safety, compliance, and risk management.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in documentation and report preparation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
