Uganda Technical College – Kichwamba (UTC – KI) is a Public Tertiary Institution located in Kabarole District, 14 km on the Fort portal – Bundibugyo highway. It is governed in accordance to the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (2003) as amended. It offers programs leading to the award of National and Higher Diplomas in Engineering and ICT. The institution was established in 1947, as a resettlement of World War II veterans and as an Artisan Training Centre. In 1971, it was upgraded to the level of technical institute and in 1983, it later became a technical college.

Job Description
Uganda Technical College - Kichwamba is a Public Tertiary Institution of Higher learning offering National Diploma and International Technical Certificates Courses in the Engineering fields. It reports to the Ministry of Education and Sports under the Department of TVET-OM.
It offers programs leading to the award of National and Higher Diplomas in Engineering and ICT. The institution was established in 1947, as a resettlement of World War II veterans and as an Artisan Training Centre. In 1971, it was upgraded to the level of technical institute and in 1983, it later became a technical college.
The Governing Council and Management are seeking to fill up the following vacancy. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant position
Duties and Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, washing and peeling produce, and portioning ingredients.
Dishwashing: Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans by hand or using dishwashing equipment. Ensure that all items are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reuse.
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils to maintain a hygienic environment and prevent cross-contamination.
Stocking and Inventory: Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies and kitchen inventory. Keep track of stock levels and notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
Trash Removal: Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly. Maintain cleanliness in trash storage areas and ensure that waste is disposed of in accordance with sanitation regulations.
Assistance with Meal Service: Assist kitchen staff during meal service by portioning food, garnishing dishes, and ensuring that plates are presented neatly and attractively.
Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, stovetops, grills, and fryers. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to supervisors.
Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to food safety regulations, health codes, and sanitation standards at all times. Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of food to prevent contamination and foodborne illness.
Assistance with Special Events: Assist kitchen staff during special events or catering functions by setting up serving stations, replenishing food supplies, and assisting with cleanup afterward.
Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to kitchen staff and other team members. Communicate effectively and respond promptly to requests or instructions from supervisors.
Personal Hygiene: Maintain personal hygiene standards by wearing clean uniforms, washing hands frequently, and following proper grooming practices while on duty.
Training and Development: Participate in training programs and ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to kitchen operations and food service.
Qualifications and Competencies
Food Safety Certification: Many employers require kitchen attendants to hold a food handler's permit or certification in food safety and sanitation. This ensures that they understand proper food handling techniques and maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
Physical Fitness: Kitchen attendants should be physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing repetitive tasks.
Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform simple calculations for measuring ingredients, portioning food, and following recipes accurately.
Communication Skills: Basic communication skills are necessary to interact with kitchen staff and communicate effectively with supervisors.
Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and ensuring that food is prepared and served correctly.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen.
