Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Student Relations Specialist, this remote-based role involves student engagement, registration support, academic advising, and operational coordination. The Junior Student Relations Specialist will assist in resolving student queries, facilitate communication between departments, update records on academic systems, and ensure an excellent student experience. The role includes administrative duties and requires working night shifts to support online students. Candidates must have a stable internet connection and backup power supply.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support student registration changes and academic progression counselling
Ensure students understand curriculum structures (e.g., phase-in/phase-out modules)
Disseminate student-related policy updates
Guide students on using online platforms
Manage general email/phone queries and escalate unresolved issues
Log, track, and resolve student issues in line with service level agreements
Maintain accurate student interaction records in academic systems
Assist with unresolved Customer Relations Centre queries
Coordinate and support student satisfaction surveys
Liaise with internal departments to ensure smooth cross-functional operations
Ensure student notes and updates are accurately captured in systems
Stay informed about institutional products and policies
Identify query trends and escalate to senior staff as needed
Support the wider Customer Relations Centre and Academic Operations team
Ensure compliance with POPIA legislation
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
National Diploma or Advanced Certificate (NQF Level 6)
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of administrative and customer service experience
1 year of operational/project management experience
Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
High computer proficiency
Excellent planning and time management
Results-oriented and able to work under pressure
Professional demeanor and customer-focused mindset
Strong empathy and problem-solving skills
Advanced administrative and organizational skills
Special Requirements:
Reliable high-speed internet connection
Backup power supply
Ability to work night shifts (19h00–04h00 or 20h00–05h00)
