Job Description
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
You will be responsible for the flow and control of parts and materials at Signalytic. It is your responsibility to ensure that the scheduled manufacturing does not run out of parts. You maintain the contacts with the suppliers and organize shipment of goods to Kampala. You also organize the shipment of our finished products to customers across the world. You oversee the management and control of our inventory, making sure it is always well organized and the electronic records of inventory are correct. When an issue arises with supply you work with the manufacturing and engineering team to find a solution.
This position requires someone who is methodical and organized. You appreciate working with a well defined process. You have an understanding of shipping goods between countries and how tariffs and duties work. You take initiative and identify potential problems that threaten our production timelines as early as possible.

Inventory Audits: Conducting regular physical inventory audits to verify stock levels and reconcile discrepancies.

Supplier Selection: Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers to find the best quality products at competitive prices.
Negotiations: Negotiating contracts, terms, and prices with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
Purchase Orders: Issuing and managing purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate order processing.
Cost Control and Budgeting
Budget Management: Developing and managing the budget for inventory purchases, ensuring alignment with the company's financial goals.
Cost Analysis: Analyzing procurement costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
Supplier Relationship Management
Vendor Relations: Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and consistent supply of goods.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluating supplier performance based on criteria such as quality, delivery times, and service.
Demand Planning and Forecasting
Forecasting: Collaborating with sales and marketing teams to predict future demand and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
Demand Planning: Using historical data and market trends to plan inventory needs and ensure product availability.
Logistics and Distribution
Inbound Logistics: Coordinating the receipt of goods from suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
Warehouse Management: Overseeing the storage, organization, and movement of inventory within the warehouse.
Technology and Systems Management
Inventory Management Systems: Implementing and managing inventory management software to track and manage stock levels.
Data Analysis: Utilizing data analytics tools to monitor inventory performance and make informed purchasing decisions.
Quality Control
Inspection: Establishing quality control procedures to inspect incoming goods for defects and ensure they meet company standards.
Returns Management: Handling the return of defective or incorrect items and managing replacements or refunds.
Compliance and Risk Management
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that procurement practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Risk Mitigation: Identifying and mitigating risks related to supply chain disruptions, such as supplier failures or geopolitical issues.
Reporting and Documentation
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of inventory levels, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
Reporting: Generating reports on inventory status, procurement activities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Good communication skills - you will work directly with suppliers
You can read specifications for technical components
Good computer skills
Able to work well within a team
4 years or more of experience in purchasing and/or inventory management
Desired qualifications:
Experience in a similar position or involving shipping and receiving or inventory control is a big plus
Experience with shipping between African countries.
Previous experience with ISO9000 quality standards.
Familiar with Odoo ERP, version 17+.
Any language skills in addition to English are a plus.
