Job Description
The Internal Auditor will supervise the preparation of audit reports, provide technical guidance to internal audit staff, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, conduct investigations, and maintain effective control mechanisms. The role also involves auditing procurement processes, reviewing information systems, and submitting regular reports to the University Council.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise the preparation of quarterly internal audit reports
Conduct investigations and special audit assignments
Provide technical support to internal audit staff
Submit regular audit reports on organizational activities
Ensure compliance with statutory accounting requirements and internal policies
Develop and maintain internal control mechanisms
Plan and schedule audit jobs
Review IT systems, networks, databases, and software
Audit procurement processes
Investigate financial transactions
Conduct special audits and investigations
Submit quarterly reports to the University Council

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized university
Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a tertiary institution or relevant industry
Strong team player with the ability to motivate and coach others
In-depth knowledge of financial management, procurement, budgeting, auditing, and labor regulations
Proficiency in computer applications, especially accounting software
